Born in Charlotte, North Carolina, Scott has lived his whole life in the Carolinas. He has lived in the Lowcountry since 1978 when he began at the College of Charleston, SC. "Once I got sand in my shoes I just couldn't leave!" said Barnhill.
Currently residing in Bluffton, he owns property on Daufuskie and plans to build his own "Daufuskie Cottage" next year.
